Development Model
Approach
We use a process called Agile, building small stage developments, which you can test as you go - rather than you getting a large up front specification that you pay loads of cash for. We know this is the way to get the best result for you. You get something you can see and touch. You see if it's working, can change it, before we end up with a great piece of finished working software.
You Talk
While you're talking to us, we promise not to use geek jargon and acronyms about the tools we use for rapidly developing software like: ‘Delphi, VB.Net, ASP.Net, AJAX, SQL Server 2008, Agile, Informix, SMS, Java and Our ears and what's between them.’ And, we don't expect you to use it either (we're good like that). But we had to put that here for the Googlebot, otherwise you may not have found us at all.
Listen
Tell us what you want and what you want to achieve but more importantly tell us why. Tell us the problem or problems you need to solve, now and in the future. With these things made clear, we've improved the likely success of the project a billion fold. You'd be amazed how useful the ‘why’ is - it helps us with decision-making right through the software development process.
Understand
We're not a "you tell me what you want outfit". If we don't understand the best way to solve your problem, our promise to you is: "We will keep asking questions until we do". It's absolutely critical we don't just understand what you've told us, but understand the whole problem and business proposition from your perspective. Trust us to ask the necessary questions to make sure we stay focused on you and your ROI.
Develop
We prefer an iterative software development model. We choose the highest priority feature set for your first delivery then design it, develop, install it, let you use it for real. Documents are kept to a minimum. We prefer to deliver working software than design documents. By doing minimum design before installing the first piece of working software, we've reduced risk and cost.
Deliver
You'll quickly know if we asked everything we needed to know, heard you correctly and understood. You'll see what's great, bad, missing or what could be made better. If all's going well you'll know we're on track and the risk will be low. If things aren't perfect first time, we'll fix issues early - reducing cost, risk and time to market. If we're any good as developers - you'll know.
Review
So, when the project is at the review and re-think stage, we:
- improve on what we've delivered
- develop remaining features
- develop totally new features that are now more important - due to changes in your business, goals and priorities.
Then we decide, together, what to invest in as the next highest priorities. We'll create the next feature-set that's right for you, and develop and deliver.
Repeat
We do it all again. Until there's not enough business value for you in what remains to be done, to justify the effort. Simple. Just how we know you like it. Ignition custom software. Perfect fit. Perfect solution.
